Xi’An is located in the center of the Weishui Plain, west of the Yellow River, and it is hemmed in by the Qinling Mountains, home to Hua Shan one of the 5 sacred mountains of Buddhism. The route toward the North, built during the Qing dynasty, leads to Mongolia.

The Xi’An region is the cradle of Chinese civilization with both Paleolithic and Neolithic remains.

This is the town of the statues of the high dignitaries...

Succeeding Catherine the 2nd, known as Catherine the Great, was a difficult proposition. As an adopted Romanov, she spread the family’s renown throughout Europe. She also put women front and center politically. Her only legitimate son would have a difficult time following in her footsteps, particularly given how he was haunted by his father’s assassination at the hands of his mother (or at the very least by her accomplices) and also given how much she was trying to keep him from ascending the throne.

Whenever people speak of Imperial Russian, inevitably they think of the rich, influential and imperial dynasty of the Romanovs.

It began in 1613 with the Zemski Sobor’s election of a 16 year-old boy named Mikhail Romanov. His grandfather, a boyar named Nikita Romanov, was the brother of the first wife of Ivan the Terrible.

After Constantine decided to found the Christian Eastern Roman Empire, churches were built in great numbers. There are the remnants of the basilica of this period to be discovered on Cyprus.
The Orthodox Church spread therefore under this Byzantine influence.
